‘King Mo’ planning move down to middleweight after Bellator 199 loss

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal

It looks like Muhammed Lawal has decided that “moneyweight” means a move to the 185-pound division.

Following a 15-second knockout loss to Ryan Bader on Saturday in the main event of Bellator 199, “King Mo” took to social media to congratulate his opponent and announce that he expects his next bout to take place at middleweight:

Muhammed’s defeat at the hands of Bader occurred in an opening round bout of the Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament. The 37-year-old has spent his entire pro MMA career competing at heavyweight and light heavyweight, though he has not made an appearance at 205 pounds since Bellator 154 on May 14, 2016, where he lost a unanimous decision to Phil Davis.

So far in his 29-fight career, “King Mo” has held the Strikeforce light heavyweight title and challenged for a Bellator interim light heavyweight championship. He could see himself in the mix soon in Bellator’s relatively shallow middleweight division.
