Devin Powell suffered a painful injury while training with UFC veteran Joe Lauzon.
UFC lightweight Devin Powell spent some time training with longtime veteran Joe Lauzon, who will be making his return to the Octagon in just two months. Unfortunately for Powell, practice ended with him going to the hospital due to a very painful injury.
“Thanks to the fine ambulatory services in Wells, ME, I am checked into the hospital and ready for surgery,â€ Powell said. “Shout out to Joe Lauzon we’ve been practicing knees on the ground and he successfully ruptured my testicle with his sheer power. His opponent has no chance in April … now to get the blood clot drained and the goods repaired. I waited a day and a half to be seen.. word for the wise, if you hurt yourself, go get checked out. Dana White, Sean Shelby, how about a NY UFC fight coming up… this will be quite the comeback story. Share this and help me get the ball rolling on my next Fight and follow my journey… pun intendedâ€
Lauzon had a humorous response on Twitter.
There is good news for Powell, who was signed to a UFC contract through Dana White’s Looking for a Fight series. He confirmed in another Instagram post that he underwent successful surgery, and vows to come back “stronger than ever.
Powell (8-3) is still in search of his first win inside the Octagon, having lost decisions to Drakkar Klose and Darrell Horcher. Lauzon (27-14) is coming off a stunning first-round TKO vs. Clay Guida. He will look to get back on track against Chris Greutzemacher at UFC 223.
Both men will likely need ballsy performances to end their respective losing streaks.
