Gunnar Nelson wants the opportunity to fight breakout talent Darren Till at UFC London.
Surging talent Darren Till has recently called for fights against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and Mike Perry, but top-fifteen welterweight contender Gunnar Nelson would like to challenge the Liverpudlian at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 127 card in London.
Nelson, who is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio, verbally agreed to a bout with Till back in November but hasn’t heard anything from the UFC.
We are game for London or Liverpool @UFCEurope like it?

Liverpool gonna be sick son and you know that !!!!

“I had a little back and forth with Darren Till not so long ago and I thought that was going to happen, Nelson told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, per MMA Fighting’s Peter Carroll. “They haven’t scheduled anything yet. It looks like he’s calling everyone out and I said I’m here, but nothing is happening.
After his shocking loss to Ponzinibbio, ‘Gunni’ would love to spring back into the winner’s column against Till, who is currently undefeated at 16-0, with one draw against Nicolas Dalby.
“Yeah, I would love that fight. He’s saying he’s not getting any opponents, he’s up there, he’s a good fighter and he’s saying that nobody wants to fight him or whatever, so I’m ready and that’s it. He’s ranked up there and I’m willing to fight.
Nelson, a native of ReykjavÃk, Iceland, would like to fight the the 25-year-old in foreign territory, preferably in London, England.
“I was picturing London. We talked about Liverpool before but I guess that’s not happening. So, yeah, London or wherever, you know.
UFC London, which is scheduled to take place on March 17 at the O2 Arena, recently added a light heavyweight bout between Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz to its lineup but has yet add any more high-profile match-ups. A welterweight scrap between Nelson and Till would significantly boost the card and it’s expected that Michael Bisping will headline the event in his retirement bout.
